It is a non-profit culture collection repository located in the maintains over bacterial cultures, over Mycoplasmas and more than plasmids, host strains, bacteriophages and transposons.

Culture Collections - consists of four UK Culture Collections including: European Collection of Cell Cultures (ECACC), National Collection of Type Cultures (NCTC), National Collection of Pathogenic Viruses (NCPV) and the National Collection of Pathogenic Fungi (NCPF).

Culture Collections supply a range of products including: cell lines, primary cells, bacteria. Pages in category "Culture collections" The following 17 pages are in this category, out of 17 total. This list may not reflect recent changes ().

This is a short account, by Dr. Cowan, Curator of the National Collection of Type Cultures, of the history and re-organization of the collection, now 30 years old. The original nucleus consisted of some cultures of medical interest maintained at the Lister Institute. The Medical Research Council then undertook to share responsibility and the collection was placed under the Cited by: 1.

Loss of Habitat A loss of habitat can happen naturally. Dinosaurs, for instance, lost their habitat about 65 million years hot, dry climate of the Cretaceous period changed very quickly, most likely. The collection currently holds cell lines representing 45 different species, 50 tissue types, HLA types, monoclonal antibodies and at least genetic disorders.

However, many leading scientists agree on seeing culture as a process, rather. Reliable stock cultures are required for a variety of reasons, which include the maintenance of reference strains and pure cultures for research. For these reasons and others the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) maintains a diverse collection of plant viruses and viroids.
